You can download the latest version of Java here:

I have seen reports (but no personal experience) that OOo has problems
with the latest version of Java, so you might want to use the previous
version available from here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

The question is why would you want to save the components that make up
an OOo file in separate files? I suspect that you are using some flavour
of Windows and your file manager (eg. Windows Explorer) has the "Show
compressed files as folders" option switched on. I believe the answer to
your question is; No, not to my knowledge.
