I am sorry to bother you with this question. I have spent hours
learning and setting up a database and the associated forms using
Base. It was working fine, but then today it would not open. I
continue to get an error that says "the connection to the
datasource
<name> could not be established. the connection to the
external data
source could not be established. An unknown error occurred. the
driver is probably defective". This had never happened before, and
does not happen with any of the other databases I have
created in the
same manner (indeed, most of the other databases I have created are
the earlier versions of the one I am having trouble with).
It is not
a remote database; it is here on my computer. Honestly, I
do not even
care if I can retrieve the functions and forms I made. I would be
happy just being able to take the data and start over.
But, I cannot
even find where get that. I have attached the file, in hopes that
this might be helpful. I do not think it is an actual
driver problem,
because like I said, all the others are working properly, as do new
ones I create. Thank you for any help you can offer, and
please let
me know if there is more information I can send.
Sincerely
Michael Caja
I downloaded this to my Linux computer. I attempted to unzip
the file, and it will not unzip. I believe that you have a
corrupted file.
Typically, I can take an odb file and unzip it. For example,
if I have a file named Something.odb, I rename the file to
x.zip, and then I can unzip the file. I could NOT do this
with the file that you sent. I assume, therefore, that the
file is damaged. No comment on how or why. I hope that you
have a backup :-(
I don't know if the two are related, but what caught my eye above is "the
driver is probably defective". But this is an email I sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
this
morning:
"
Win XP, OOo 2.0 RC2
Just loaded RC2, but now Base stopped working.
I connect to MySQL via the JDBC driver. The Options|Java|Classpath points
straight to mysql-connector-java-3.1.9-bin.jar, but connecting to any db
keeps telling me that "com/mysql/jdbc/Driver could not be located".
Help please.
"
Cheers
Gert
Which version of Java are you using?
