[users] Applying Rulers

Hi,
 
I have just finished downloading OOo 2.0rc2. I also have downloaded OOo1.1.3;   
1.1.5 and  1.9.79.  The only one that has a vertical ruler is OOo2.0rc2. If you 
go to tools > options > text document > view,  there are NO windows for 
resetting the ruler or to disable it. The ruler remains there permanently. It 
is a + to have it, but all of the instructions pertaining to the ruler are 
bogus.
