Apart from the thread I've got going re the Agenda Wizard (still
wrestling with that one), I now find I cannot get the spell-checker
to work in 2.0. The options are all checked in the right places, but
I cannot get the wizard to work to install the GB english dict, and
even the American US dict (which I assume is already present) does
not work. In other words, I have no spell checker at all.
When I attempt to use the wizard, I'm first invited to upgrade
DicOOo, but when I agree to that, I'm then presented with a blank
window with "Select Path". I haven't a clue what I'm supposed to put
there, so I ignore it and persevere with DicOOo 1.5.1. Downloading
seems to go alright - but with no result. Closing OOo and
re-starting as per instructions does not get the spell checker
working, and if the dictionary file has gone somewhere then I've no
idea where, else I would install it off line.
System is PCLinuxOS
If you're using Linux, you have to run the dictionary installer as
root for it to work properly. At least I do.
If you're trying to actually activate the dictionary you've
installed, then that could be a problem:

Yes, I've discovered where the download is hiding, but I can't
activate it; I guess you've hit the nail on the head.
You are supposed to go:
Tools, Options, Language Settings, Writing Aids
and select the dictionary, but as per above bug, this doesn't
currently work.
What can I say? Long live US English!
Selecting a dictionary works in 1.1.5. Maybe revert to that until the
above bug is fixed if you *need* a spell checker.
My spelling is pretty good, but as-you-go spell checking is useful for
pucking ip typos, 'cos mu tuping ist not so guud - if you see what I
mean.

Something curious: although I cannot get any spell checker (even the
default US English) on 2.0 Writer, I have now discovered that in 2.0
Draw, Calc, and Impress, the UK English spell checker works perfectly.
So at least I know the dictionaries really are installed.
Incidentally, this was the first time I have really used Draw, and am
very impressed by how well it works and how intuitive and simple to use
it is for the new user. I would like to see future development of OOo
develop its potential even more so that it could become a true DTP
program. In my migration from Windows (where for years I have used the
admirable Serif) to Linux, I've struggled with Scribus which is so often
recommended, but Draw enabled me to produce what I wanted quicker and
with less frustration.
