If you are asking, can users of MS Word use the documents that you send in email, the answer is yes, along as you save your documents in .doc or .rtf (rich text format) > 4. Most documents can be opened in either program and layouts etc. will be almost the same... assuming the document is saved in a file format that both can read (as stated in 3.) If you use macros in MS Office, these cannot be imported directly into Open office as they use slightly different programming languages.
