Workplace is a very big monster, is not just a repackaged OOo. Sure, it
contains some OOo code but integrated in a much larger product, a
portal-like system.

Lotus SmartSuite is a completely different thing.
Smart Suite does not fit in their strategy and was obsoleted. IBM want
you to run big or very big servers (IBM servers) not client-based
applications.
At the beginning of this week I was invited to keep a presentation on
OOo at a local conference, there I saw an IBM guy talking a little about
Workplace: this is a big and scary monster.
