"User base too small, "I tried to download oo.org 2.0 from secs-up mirror, and on two days, it was maxed out at over 421,000 users, Open office is not going to go away, I am sure MS want it to, but oo.org is cross platform and probably runs on more hardware than MS office. Plus has the advantage of being opensource, no cost,

Have a look at the site, somewhree there is a download stats page, just show anyone else thinking that the user base is small those stats. also remember that 100 % of those users are legal users

Thanks. The boss just nixed the OO idea, though: she says its user base
is too small so it will probably "go away."

Another Microdrone :)

A few years hence when she has cost your organization thousands or maybe
hundreds of thousands of dollars in needless software purchases, maybe some
wisdom will dawn on her.

Openoffice has passed the critical mass in a lot of countries, and much
against your boss' "judgement", its not going away.

I hope not. The world needs things like OO, even if it can't do the
particular task I need.

The world has it.
