Hi, I have now OpenOffice.Org-2.0RC3, on Unix (FreeBSD 5.4).
In my work, including movie/animations (e.g. mpeg files) into a presentation is essential. So far OOO was inable of doing so, and I had switch to a Windows PC with MS-Powerpoint for my presentations. With version 2.0, there seems to be some improvements, but I still cannot get it right. When I tried to include movies first, I got a message that some Java JRE was missing; so I installed SUN's Java 1.4 package. Now I still get an error window when including an mpeg file: "The format of the selected file is not supported." Searching the OOO mailing lists, I found another hint to download some kind of IBM Java applet: http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/tk4mpeg4 but this is commercial and allows me to only use this 90 days for free (unless I buy it). Is there no 'free' way to include movies into OOO? I use mplayer and mpeg_play software to play movies; why does OOO need commercial software for doing the same? Help and assistance is very much appreciated! Thanks, Rob. __________________________________ Yahoo!
