Hi Jack,
I've just got started with databases. I get the same result if I connect to a spreadsheet. If I export the spreadsheet to a dbf file and connect to it, I can modify data either in the table or in a form. What's interesting is that when you define the source for the database, it only wants a directory name. All the dbf files in the directory are part of the database.

I have converted an Excel spreadsheet containing a database to a Calc sheet. Now, I would like to connect Base to that Calc sheet, design a form as well as a query or two and then be able to change the database on that sheet via the Base form.

I don't seem to be able to make a change to the sheet's table in Base nor add an index to it. Apparently the sheet is locked or protected some way. So, even though I haven't designed the form yet, I doubt that it will work.

Is there any way I can make changes to a Calc sheet's database from a Base form?

Thank you very much.
