There's no email client included, but that's because there are so many
other email clients you can use ... Mozilla, Mozilla Thunderbird,
Pegasus, Eudora, maybe Evolution (not sure it runs on Windows, if
that's what you're using).

Try Thunderbird and see what you think. In some ways it's simpler than
Outlook, but in other ways, more capable. And in any case, Outlook
Express is free; you don't have to use the Outlook that comes with
MS-Office if you aren't connecting to an MS-Exchange server (unless
you're using the Calendar, in which case I recommend Sunbird, which
works as a plug-in to Thunderbird).
