As mentioned prior, I've not seen this functionality in either Excel
or OOo Calc. Yes, I'm fully aware that F2 will edit the current cell
(both in Excel and OOo) but that is not what the original poster was
describing (from how I understood it anyway).

Would be keen to see any example as well.

From how he describes it, it sounds quite useful in some situations. I myself could have used it in the past on occasion. But it would only lend itself to one-time jobs, which as I pointed out, are not really the point of spreadsheets.

A little calculator popping up around a cell, with the cell as the calculator viewport, would be kinda cool. IMHO Couldnt add more than a few kB. And what with all the other gadgets that OOo comes with...

I've never heard of this either. Can you send me a file with this tool in

I am trying to find if there is such a thing as a calculator to be

I took a MS Excel class a couple years ago. When you enter a value
into a cell, you can then upgrade that value by clicking on

the cell

(which already has a value in it), and when you do, a little tiny
calculator about the size of the cell itself comes up. The value in
the cell is displayed on the calculator and you can the click (for
example) '+', '145', '=' and the number in the cell is increased by
145. This is useful when (for example) entering weekly

income amounts

in a monthly spreadsheet.

Now I am using OpenOffice and would like to see the same thing. Is
this available? Can someone make one? Has anyone ever seen this? I
tried to fing the answer a while back and never found

anyone who ever heard of it.

Thanks,
Daryl Helwig
