This type of problem (interruption of long downloads) can be circumvented by the use of a download manager or P2P application. One of the popular P2P applications is advetised on the OOo main site (bittorrent).
I would suggest that try to finish the download, but if your PC crashes before it ends, try again but with one of the above.
