[users] Installation HELP please

I am trying to install Open Office, not the beta, from a download. OS is XP 
Pro.  In the set up I get to a window about Java, saying there is no java 
available on this computer and that OO does not run well without java.  In the 
instructions I am told to find a java rootlet, no clue to that. I am lost 
regarding what to do next.  Any help?
