Kate,

First do none of the methods described in the 2.0 SETUP_GUIDE.pdf (
http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide2/index.html ) work for
you? Is it possible you missed the links on http://www.openoffice.org/
and on http://download.openoffice.org/2.0.0/index.html to this document?
If yes, please get it and see if you can use one or more of the methods.
There is one specific to Debian and the others have tools that should
also exist on Debian as they do on other distros that you could also
use.
