To let you know that a package for the Slackware Linux distribution exists
for OpenOffice 2.0 in English.
It is available on http://www.linuxpackeges.net
I have tested it and it works fine, you may want to update the section
"Packages for Linux distributions" on the page

Jacqueline,

I had seen the package on that site a few days ago. Without knowing just
how packages are built, I hesitate to download and install them. I learned
this lesson the hard way by installing a postfix package over my
locally-built one. That rather trashed the MTA and it took me a couple of
hours to fix the problems.

However, using the rpm2tgz tool worked just fine on the distribution
rpms.

I'm still curious what was considered broken in the packaging and install
procedure that was used prior to the 2.0 release. It certainly worked without
any problems here over the past several years.

Thanks,

Rich
