If you can, move to 2.x...

I also have a second request, I would like to do a Find and Replace on Field
Names that have been inserted into the Doc.. [Probabily as imposible as the
first request.] We have old Fields have been split into 2 or more new Fields
new field names ensuing. And for us they are large documents, one contains
just less than 6000 occurances of 14 seperate feilds spread thoughtout the
doc., another, just short of 8000. To date I have been using macros to do
this, but as I am only just starting to learn macros I have found this to be
very slow and error prone.

Any advice anyone?
I have always used macros to manipulate fields because to my knowledge, you can not search for them. I have written macros that will remove references and change field names. Well, actually, I do not change field names, I do not think that you can do this. I created a new field, inserted it at the same anchor point, and then removed the old field.
