I forgot to ask, could it be related that I do not have Java Runtime
Environment installed? I thought jre was just for the database and some
wizards.

When I save any document in the .odt format, I receive an error.
Error loading BASIC of document
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Gregory%20L%20Forster/Application%20Data/OpenOffice.org2/user/basic/dialog.xlc/:
General Error
General input/output error.
Then there is a dialog box with an O.K. to click, which I click then I
receive the next error:
Error loading BASIC of document
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Gregory%20L%20Forster/Application%20Data/OpenOffice.org2/user/basic/dialog.xli/:
General Error
General input/output error.
There is another dialog box with an O.K. to click. When I press O.K.,
it seems to save O.K.
Using Windows explorer, I checked the C:\Documents and
Settings\MyName\Application Data\OpenOffice.org2\user\basic subdirectory
and there are no dialog.xlc or dialog.xli files. Are these files
required when I save as a .odt file? Where, or how do I get them? What
do they do? What are they needed for? Other than changing the file
save/load default to something else, i.e. Microsoft XXXXX 97/2000/XP,
how do I eliminate these errors? Since no one else seems to mention
these errors, what did I do wrong?
Try the method outlined in the 2.0 User Guide, Chapter 13 -
Troubleshooting. It may be solution.
