If in XP go to WINDOWS EXPLORER/TOOLS/FOLDER OPTIONS/FILE TYPES. Click on the type of file you want to change such as RTF, DOC, etc. You will see the "Details for "rtf" extension". Click CHANGE and you will see the options you can select. Select MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD, click on OK all the way out. After that all your RTF files will open in WORD. You can do the same with any other extension, such as DOC, XLS, etc. I have been using both programs and have it set up so that each ext is opened with its own Program of Origin. Rick
