O.K., try this again before I prematurely (and accidentally) send the
message.
I run WinXP Pro/SP2. I've downloaded and installed OpenOffice 2.0 and it
works great!
1. Disconnect from the Internet
2. Delete ALL of what you installed for OpenOffice 2.0 (obviously not
what you downloaded.) this includes what's in your Application Data
subdirectory.
3. Empty Trash Can and reboot.
4. Using the Windows Task Manager, shut down the TSR applications with
your name, i.e. anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware, Internet Protocol
manager, etc.
5. Click Start/Run/OOo_2.0.0_Win32Intel_install.exe. (NOTE:
OOo_2.0.0_Win32Intel_install.exe is a self extracting and self
installing file. Just follow the prompts.
6. Reboot
7. During reboot, reconnect Internet.
8. The first time you execute OO, you'll get a "first time" dialog box.
Do not try to unpack OOo_2.0.0_Win32Intel_install.exe using WinZip, or
whatever. The beta versions you had to unpack, then install. The rc
versions, as well as the final version are self extracting and self
installing. Just click Start/Run.

I have attempted the download and unzipped 3 different times and still cannot
get open office 2.0 up and going?
I have Windows XP.... I have an icon for open office org, and when i click on
it, get several folders for installer, open office org 1,2,3,4 and a setup
icon, setup config settings. When I try to open the installer for windows it
says wrong OS version for application?
I would love to get using open office, but at this time still struggling? Any
help would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
