Is there any way to modify the data range of an existing chart?

I created a line chart where columns B and C of data were plotted
against column A. Everything went well.

But then I added a row at the bottom, and there seemed to be no
way to incorporate it into the chart. Finally I selected the
table and dragged it onto the chart, and a dialog came up asking
me about axis labels. I selected no to that, and the chart was
formed, but now the axes were messed up. Column A went up the Y
axis and bogus Row A, Row B, etc. were substituted on the X axis.

At some point I saw an item to modify data range, but I don't
think it did anything, and it got lost, not to be seen again.

Did you try the method in Help > Contents > Index > Search term >
ranges;combining? That might be what you are thinking.

Perhaps. I haven't a clue what I'm doing in that dialog. I would
think range modification would be available directly off the
chart.

Thanks,
Paul
1. Click anywhere on the sheet that is not on the chart to deselect the chart focus.
2. Click the chart ONCE ONLY (NOT DOUBLECLICK) to bring focus to the chart.
3. Right Click. Click on "Modify Data Range."

This should get you started.
