I have heard about these problems some months (or years?) ago, but don't remember if there was a solution. Maybe it is some strange optimization problem of the compiler. I do know the source code place that reads numbers from Excel files, but cannot imagine how this code could run wrongly... Could you give some examples from an Excel file that does not work for you? I think about a list with expected cell values and loaded values together with the cell address in the sheet. Maybe I can see something from such a list...
