You can, but if you truly have no interest in doing anything but reading
Word documents, OpenOffice.org is a rather heavyweight solution. You
might be better off just downloading Microsoft's free Word Viewer
program, available from
<URL:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en&categoryid=9>.
If you wish to edit documents, or to create your own, then
OpenOffice.org is a fine idea.
