Sounds just about exactly the problem I had. Whenever I saved an .odt
file, I always received the two erros:
Error loading BASIC of document
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Gregory%20L%20Forster/Application%20Data/OpenOffice.org2/user/basic/dialog.xlc/:
General Error
General input/output error.
Then there is a dialog box with an O.K. to click, which I click then I
receive the next error:
Error loading BASIC of document
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Gregory%20L%20Forster/Application%20Data/OpenOffice.org2/user/basic/dialog.xli/:
General Error
General input/output error.
There is another dialog box with an O.K. to click. When I press O.K.,
it seems to save O.K.
I received the same replies as looking at the
Tools /Macros /Organize Macros /OpenOffice.org Basic Macros /Organizer
/Libraries /Location: OpenOffice.org Macros & Dialogs dialog box, but it
was empty. When I first installed OO2.0, I installed it with 1.1.4 on board also, but
it gave me an idea. I did the following:
1. I backed up all my text, data files.
2. I uninstalled ALL of OpenOffice.org 2.0. I not only clicked
Start./Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled OpenOffice 2.0,
I also deleted all the OpenOffice files in the C:\Documents and
Settings\My Name\Application Data subdirectory.
3.I then rebooted and disconnected the Internet
4. I ran the task manager and shut down many TSR, i.e. anti-virus
scanner, firewall, etc.
5. I then clicked Start/Run/path/OOo_2.0.0_Win32Intel_install.exe and
followed the prompts.
6. Then I rebooted and reinstalled the Internet during reboot.
Grant it, I lost all my user settings and had to reprogram OO to my own
preferences again. But
everything worked great and I did not get any errors.

I recently replaced 00.0-1.1.5 with -2.0; no particular reason, the old
version worked just fine. Anyway, the setup did a very good job of moving
writer templates from the 1.1.5 directory to the 2.0 directory. Once I
tested
the new version, I rm'd /opt/OpenOffice.org-1.1.5/ and
~/OpenOffice.org-1.1.5.
Now, when I initiate saving a document now (in 2.0), a warning
message pops
up telling me that some BASIC files cannot be found in
/opt/OpenOffice.org-1.1.5. Of course that's perfectly reasonable as that
directory tree no longer exists. However, when I look at the paths for
the
BASIC stuff in the configuration dialog boxes, they show
/opt/openoffice.org-2.0 and ~/openoffice.org-2.0.
My question to you is this: where is the application picking up the
incorrect directory location? As a corollary question, what do I
change to
make it happy again?
TIA,
Rich
