I'm on a similar platform, but when I try to replicate what you are doing it doesn't crash. It doesn't do what your trying to do, but it certainly doesn't crash.
Are you trying to copy in the whole PDF (is there more than one page?) or a single page. It would be better if within the pdf reader, you select what you are trying to copy, then copy and paste.
