In relation to Rodney Wise's Contribution yesterday regarding
templates. I have had a similar, but original idea.
One of the advatanges of Ooo to me, aswell as it's price, is the fact
that it is so much smaller than MS, and that's especially important when
downloading. If Ooo were to include the templated for Impress in the
original download file - similar additions would have to be made for all
the product of the same suite. I therefore propose that the best step
would be to have a torrent style window. Whereby a list of themes
appears in a left box, from a dedicated server list (such as a .torrent
file) and then on the right for a thumbnail preview to appear. This
kind of approach would lend itself to both keeping the download size
small and offering a wider range of templates than Microsoft. In order
to limit the number appearing, one would have to keep them Categorised -
but having different servers with different templates on would easily
fix this problem.
Interested in people's feedback? - It sounds like a simple idea to include.
