This sounds like maybe the motherboard has a crack which opens up when
the board gets hot, or,
a bad cpu cooler.
Does the computer only crash when OOo is running? If it is a bad cooler
or motherboard then the crash should occur other times than just when
OOo is running.

Couple things come to mind:
1. How much memory is available?
2. Have you tried to defrag after install?

Subject: OOo 2.0 crash take 2
Hi everyone,
I wrote once before, and appreciate the response I got, but I'm still
having trouble w/ OOo 2.0. Two things are happening: first, sometimes
OO just crashes, it shuts down, then restarts w/ the recovery agent.
All the files are saved / recovered. The other thing is that sometimes
OO crashes and my entire computer restarts. Again, everything is
recovered, but it's very annoying and data is sometimes lost.
I have tried using XP Home's restore points to take the system back to
an earlier point (though I've only had the computer a month or so), but
that doesn't seem to help. I followed the suggestion of one respondent
from the list to uninstall the program, including the directories (I
used add / remove programs, and deleted the directory in "program files"
using explorer), and then reinstalling, but that didn't help either.
I've also tried using msconfig to boot the computer using "normal"
startup settings (rather than the "selected" startup). Again, no success.
At this point, I'm not sure what to do, or exactly how to troubleshoot
the problem. I really rely on the program, so any help you could give
me would be very much appreciated!
