did you enter correct parameters at tools-> options->internet->proxy ?

set it to manual and enter all data to be sure that oo.org knows about it.

if it still doesn't work, try monitoring your proxy (tail -f to squids access.log and grepping for your ip address works nice ;) ) while pasting the webpage in oo.org

oh, and you may add 5., too - if for some reason proxy server is not accessible (for example, not configured), it seems that oo.org tried each object anew and timeout is pretty long. it would be better in this case if it would notice that proxy is not accessible and simply stop trying...

Imho 5. is the problem, but i cannot figure out why OOo isn't able to connect to the proxy server. We have a 3Mbit/s connection to the internet and OOo freeze up for about 10 minutes now :(. The only thing i've done is to insert the site google.com into an OOo document by copy and paste.

Thanks,
 Patrick
