A viewer is not available, but if the IT department does not allow you to install software, then a viewer would not do you any good anyway :-(
If they will allow you to install software, you can install an entire copy of OpenOffice.org on your machine. One other possibility, is that there are some Linux boot disks that contain an entire operating system. Some of these include OpenOffice.org. So, if you really want to read the document, you can perhaps download one of these linux systems as a disk image, burn it to CD, and then boot the CD. Typically, after it is booted, you can read your local hard drive and read the document. Best of all, you have NOT installed anything on your computer.
