The document converter SHOULD preserve the MS Word files, and just create a
copy that is in OO format.

My guess is what happened is that your file associations changed, so that MS
Word files are associated with OO instead of MS. (There was a place to state
whether you wanted the associations changed during the installation of OO,
but it often happens that someone checks to have the associations changed
without realizing it or without understanding the implications.)

If this is indeed what happened, you can still open your files using MS
Word. You just need to do it from within MS Word, rather than by double
clicking
from Windows Explorere (if you're using Windows). You need to first open MS
Word, then use File > Open to open the file.

If in fact your files WERE changed to OO format (they no longer have the
.doc extension, but instead have a .odt extension), then you need to convert
them back to .doc files using OO.

Open the file with OO, then use File > Save As... and for File Type, select
Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP.

I inadvertently used the Document Converter Wizard & prematurely converted
all my MS WORD documents to Open Office; i.e. from My Documents they now
open in Open Office 2.0 instead of WORD. I just downloaded OpenOffice & am
not familiar with it at all. Therefore, I need a way of reconverting them to
WORD until I get up to speed with OO. Is there a way of reversing course?
