I have looked in Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) at:
        
        Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Manage Add-ons > Add-ons that 
have been used by Internet Explorer

Here I found "SO ActiveX Class" (OpenOffice.org 2.0 ActiveX Control for IE?) 
that is already enabled.

I remember that the problem, I am having with the opening of ODT files inside 
IE, only began after installing Windows XP Service Pack 2. With Windows XP 
Service Pack 1 there was no problem.

I suspect that the solution may come from one of the following actions:

- Changing some configuration inside the new IE that results from the 
installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2;
- Changing the ActiveX Control that comes with OpenOffice.org 2.0 (perhaps it 
doens't work with that new version of IE).

Do you or anyone else have any idea about this?

Have you looked at the BHO list in explorer 
In the tools menu, select manage add ons

Select add ons that have been used look for the Ooo add in and enable.
