[users] editing .dat file

In the C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.0\share\dict subdirectory, what 
program is used to edit the th_en_US_v2.dat file? The en_US.dic and 
th_en_US_v2.idx files edit well, using a text editor.  However, editing 
the th_en_US_v2.dat file using a text editor renders the entire 
thesaurus completely unusable.
