You can use any download site, a site close to you might be
marginally faster. md5sum is a way of checking that the file you
download is complete, when the file is uploaded the folks that upload
it will run a program the will generate the md5sum number -- when you
download the file you can run a program that will check the file
against the md5sum and make sure that there were no problems with the
file you downloaded.
Although OO.o is a large download, if you have a high speed
connection you can get the file fairly quickly and reliably and
download it again if the first one is corrupt. So you don't "need"
md5sum, as a computer geek I think it is kind of useful, but you
might want to try the download without it first.
