There is also a FAQ on the OO website explaining how to do this because so many people accidently change the association when they really only wanted to try the product out and
not make it their primary office tool.

When you get your laptop, one of the pages during installation asks if you want OO to be the default program for .doc type files. Don't skip over this page so quickly next time :-) .

Check or uncheck as you desire.
