Thanks for the response. In this particular case, it wasn't that the  
worksheets were empty. They definitely had content. It's just that they weren't 
 
selected, and I only wanted the selected sheet to print. And I had checked the  
option (using Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org Calc > Printing) to only  print 
selected sheets.

There is a problem which repeatedly hits all people  around me working with
Excel (and I think that OOCalc is no different here)  -- both spreadsheets
when trying to decide which area of the sheet to print  consider blank (but
once used, even when the content was later deleted)  cells as non-empty and
print them as well. Therefore, it is often necessary  to actually delete
(not only erase) couple of rows and columns around the  area of spreadsheet
you want to print.
