I have access to EndNote 9 and did some reading, but haven't tried
using it seriously. EN marketing claims to support OO through the "RTF
scan" feature. The idea is that you can paste EN citations into your
document, where they will look something like this {Lastname 1996;
#1338} where the number is the EN record number. You convert these
into proper citations by exporting your document to RTF and then
running EN's "RTF scan", which will change the citations into the
proper format and build a bibliography. Unfortunately, your document
is now an RTF, and may have lost some features and formatting. If you
convert back and change anything, you've got to do the process again.The other difficulty I saw was related to collaboration. EN doesn't seem to like to share access to a db; instead, one person is supposed to update the db for others, perhaps by importing their personal dbs. The problem is that record numbers will change, which breaks citations of the kind above. Perhaps there's a way around this, but it all seemed pretty painful. You might ask over at the bibliography project, or talk to the company. EN can also import and export in a wide variety of formats, so other workarounds may be possible. HTH, doug.
