Trying to preview sounds from the gallery.
The Media Player appears with a big question mark over it, and is mute.
I can play the sounds directly from the directory tree in Konqeror via
Amarok, but if I try to play them via Media Player, it says the format
is not recognised.
The OOo Help files tell me:
On UNIX systems, the Media Player requires the Java Media Framework API
(JMF). Download and install the JMF files, and add the path to the
installed jmf.jar to the class path in Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org
- Java.
However, trying to find how to do this is not easy. A google search for
"jmf API download" produces a mass of sun/java links that seems to
relate to developers, not humble OOo users who simply want to make their
office suite work.
What do I need to do?
Incidentally, the sounds play fine in OOo 1.1.5, which I still have on
my system.
