My problem is with hiding or collapsing certain address lines
when there is no data in that field. I've read a ton about how
to do this (using the Hidden Paragraph function with a "not" or
"!" or "NEQ" condition) but the "hidden" line remains hidden
whether or not there is data in the field on that line. So it
seems like hiding works, but the condition does not. There's
no other info on that line (e.g. no other fields, no other
text, no spaces, etc.).
....
What could I possibly be doing wrong, and how can I resolve
this? I really want to use OO.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I've never been able
to get hidden paragraphs to work, not just when using mail merge
but in any situation. I've successfully used hidden text, and
conditional text, and hidden sections, but not hidden paragraphs.
I haven't tried doing it in the latest version (2.0.1RC2), though.
