HI Markus, TTF or TrueTypeFonts can be used, as described here - http://linux.org.mt/article/ttfonts and here http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/ , under Linux as well as Windows. In fact, Mac OS X can use them too. If you are going to be editing the file on different OSes, it would be good to have the same font or fonts on all the systems. THat would be the easiest way to take care of that problem. If you are producing a document (in any OS) that simply needs to be viewed in various OSes, then exporting to PDF is your best option.
