Your second suggestion makes me think I should offer up my files as a
sample so others can see my problem. I know one way is to file an
issue/bug and post files. Is there another way to do this since I'm not
sure yet if it's a bug? I'm also happy to send an example via email for
anyone interested in taking a closer look.
Carl,
I cannot help much with the problem you are having but think that
attaching your examples to an issue would be best. Those who can help
will be able to look and make suggestions without polluting the list
with attachments, if they make it through the filtering.
Here are some steps you can follow to get the issue created and
afterward post the url to the list.
If you haven't already registered, do the following:
1. To file an issue you must register with OOo by clicking the
My Pages tab and selecting the Register link
http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/Join
2. Fill in your information
3. Reply to the confirmation email that will be sent to the address
you provided.
4. Once you have confirmed, go to www.openoffice.org again
5. And click on the "My Pages" tab from which you can file and find
issues.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is important that you file
any examples with the issue to ensure your need is understood.
OK, with the help of Mike Scott off list, it seems I've had better luck
with Hidden Paragraphs when I remove the "slash" characters in field
names. Filemaker, the original source of the fields, allows forward
slash characters "\" so several of my fields contain that character.
Seems that either slash causes the hidden paragraph to be hidden always
regardless of the syntax.
I don't know if this is a bug or feature, or if it's just something
that's difficult to handle in a WinXP system. I use Mac at home and I'm
used to various Windoze forbidden characters in file and field names, so
I never thought to consider that.
Thanks, everyone, for your help with this problem.
Carl
