I'd have to move it all to /usr/local before rm'ing it from /opt. And, if I
did move it there'd be no reason to make a soft link; it would just run from
there.
Regardless, the only linux versions available from the OO.o are rpm's for
Red Hat and its derivatives. Why not a generic version which used to be
available?
