You need to install Apples X11 software, it is on your install DVD (you need to do a custom install and select X11). You can also download X11 from Apple's website.

Having said all that, I would take a hard look at neooofice.org and try out the version of Open Office.org that has been adapted to work like a Macintosh program.

Thanks

Hello-
I just purchased a new mac with the latest version of Tiger. I used open office on my pc and loved it, so I didn't bother purchasing microsoft office for my mac, as I noticed that open office is available for the mac. I have downloaded the advanced build 2.0 line. It downloads the .dmg file just fine, and when I double click on the file it mounts OpenOffice.org 2. When I double click on that file all I see is an OpenOffice.org 2.0 icon. When I double click on that I see the program appear in my dock for a few seconds, but then it closes and nothing happens. I have tried dragging the file into my applications folder, and it copies there fine, but when I click on it I get the same response. I have searched the internet looking for solutions and have had no luck. I have downloaded the program in both safari and firefox without any success. I would really love to use Open Office on my mac - any help with what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
