OK, have the First Page setup worked out, thanks. In tools options language settings my user interface is 'default' as the only other alternative is English(US) Default Locale and default language are now set to English(Australia)

It's possible to set a language for each style. Since you're in Aus, I suspect you've got some English (US) styles, and an English (AU) dictionary, or something of the sort. >2. Click on it so that the cursor is on that page, then double-click on First Page. THEN position your cursor at the end of the page, click on Insert -> Manual Break.
