Yes, this should be possible. But you have to use the ODBC-driver, to
have access to the *.mdb-file. Sorry, I can't give you more advice,
because I don't use the base module.

Yes, when you're starting OOo for the first time, OOo asks you, which
format should be the default format. When you missed this option, you
can change this later via Tools > Options > OOo-module (like Writer,
Calc...)

Yes, because MS OE uses the spellchecker of Word. But this isn't the
fault of OOo. :)
