Hello All!

This is my first post in this list. Let me introduce myself: I'm a former user of OS/2 Warp (since version 2.0 until Warp) where I learn and use Lotus SmartSuite applications. Now I'm using M$ Windows 2000, but still using Lotus aplications. Now I want move to Open Office (in OS/2 I tried the Star Office). I am migrating to OO slowly.

Today I found a problem. I try to locate data in a external spreadsheet but without success. Let see if I can explain:

In a spreadsheet A

        A B C D
1 ATa1 ATb1 ATc1 BTd1
n ATan ATbn ATcn BTdn

In a spreadsheet B

        A B C D
1 BTa1 BTb1 BTc1 BTd1
n BTan BTbn BTcn BTdn

Bottom line when I put something in the column C, of spreadsheet A, the column D (same row) should be updated with value in column D, spreadsheet B. In Smartsuite I do this with functions Index and Match (in different sheets of the same spreadsheet) but in OO I get odd results. If you can help me I would be very grateful.

TIA,

E.Varejão

Let me start by stating two things. I was a long time user of OS/2. Windows 2000 eh? XP starts much faster, but I spend my time in Linux mostly these days...

Now, back to the question. I think that the problem is that the link to the external spreadsheet is NOT updated. Is this correct? I am asuming that spredsheet B is in a different file. Are these in the same file and just different sheets of the same document?

I document these specific methods here:

Yes, it should update automatically if they are in the samd document. not certain if they are in different documents.
