I have a document that has some Hebrew characters in it. Even though
I have several Hebrew fonts installed, OOo is using Tahoma (which

How do I (1) get it to use one of the Hebrew fonts when I import docs
like this in the future and (2) how do I do a "find and replace" to
make the changes to the current doc?

From what I've been able to learn so far, I can't accomplish #2.
Does anyone know if this works yet?

Newbie here, so just ignore if I've misunderstood the question. Wouldn't an entry in the Replacement Table at Menu>Tools>Options>OpenOffice.org>Fonts solve both problems?

Hi, Arn --

I was just getting ready to send a "got it guys, thanks" message when your's came through. Since you're new to this, too, I'll let you know how easy it was -- and maybe it will help you, or someone else someday.

What I was trying to do can be accomplished with styles.

1. Enable enhanced language support -- (Tools > Options > Language Settings > Languages and check the boxes for "Enabled for Asian Languages" and "Enabled for complex text layout (CTL)")

2. Right click on the style applied to the part of the document that contains the characters and choose "Modify" and the "Font" tab.

3. Now that enhanced language support is enabled, you will have three font options, not just one. There's one for "Western Text Font", "Asian Text Font" and "CTL Font."

4. I changed the "CTL Font" from "Tahoma" to my Hebrew font and all is well. :-)

In my defense, this is the first time I've ever had to deal with CTL. I'm sure the all-nighter didn't help, either.

Thanks to all -- my cave awaits. :-)
