I use the same version of OO.o on the same OS, except mine is the 64-bit
version (Robert didn't say whether he had 32-bit or 64-bit Ubuntu Breezy).

First, it works pretty much perfectly for me. It has never crashed and I have
never had a problem saving a file, whether a regular text file, a template, or
an impress file. I have zero knowledge of programming, so I can't help with
the futex() problem. But at least I can say that my computer is virtually the
same and it does not happen for me.

I should also add that my computer uses ext3 filesystem. The only
suggestion I can make to Robert is to try writing to a drive formatted
differently, especially something like vfat. And, in my experience with
Linux, whenever I have a problem writing, copying, saving, it almost always
turns out to be a permissions problem. Therefore, try launching Writer from
the command line with sudo, e.g., "sudo swriter." (I think swriter is the
executable.)

Second, I use the same version as Robert (1.9.193) because that is the
latest version that is available for Ubuntu Breezy. I'd love to upgrade to 2.01
but it seems there are no .deb files for any of the later versions.
