Try this: Open OOo *without any document*, and set language. That will set the default (I think). >2. My AutoSpellcheck option is missing from the Tools pull down menu. Strange! Try key F7, that would be the same. Do you have dictionaries installed? If othe rspellcheck really works you probablyhave, byt if it does not: 1) OOo can fetch and install from internet, using meny File > Wizards > Install dicitonaries. Follow the directions.
