No, you cannot legally download Microsoft Office without paying Microsoft a lot of money. You appear to have downloaded OOo (OpenOffice.org) a free office suite, that includes a word processor called "Writer" which is very similar to Microsoft Word.

It would be much easier for us to help you if, instead of complaining, you gave some useful details about your problem. You say you have downloaded OOo, but you have not told us if you have installed the program. If you have not installed it, please follow the instructions given here: http://download.openoffice.org/2.0.1/instructions.html#win If you have succeeded in installing OOo you should see the shortcut to the "Writer" program in your "Start" menu. If you know how to use the "hoped for" MS Word, you should have no difficulty using the basics of Writer. Information about using Writer and the other components of OOo can be found here: http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/index.html There is also a wealth of information about OOo to be found here:http://documentation.openoffice.org > I have already registered then been told I can't sing with my chosen > U/N and P/W because somebody else is using my username, which I very > much doubt. You are not "blocked", in that you will not receive any registration key to unlock the software. See: http://user-faq.openoffice.org/faq/ar01s02.html#FREE Registration is optional and is used to provide some indication of how many people may be using the software. > Peter Shalless > ps So far this programme is as confusing as any other I have > encountered in this "logic" world. We expect computers to perform an extremely diverse range of functions, so it should come as no surprise to find that they are complex machines, which require some measure of knowledge and experience to operate.
