You say that you installed OOo (OpenOffice.org), but you don't say how.
Did you run the installer program and did it finish successfully?
It sounds as if you are using Windows, but I can't really guess which
version.

Try opening "Search -> For Files & Folders" from the "Start" button,
then search for a file named "soffice.exe". If you don't find this file
you haven't installed the program, so go back and run the installer
program correctly. If you do find this file double left mouse click on
it and the program should start.

Come on, did you look inside the start menu? There should be shortcuts
there. Unlike many apps, OOo does not clutter your desktop. And if
there's nothing in the system tray you must have disabled the
QuickStarter.

Hi,
What OOo version and what windows do you use?
I believe OOo doesn't create any shortcut on your desktop, but it
certainly 
has it's own program group on the Start Menu. Look in it.
