The quick answer is enable mailmerge.py under OOo2.x. This package lives
in the program directory where you installed OOo. Use
./unopkg add --shared mailmerge.py to make it available to every
installed user.
Manually edit Writer.xcu and change the following <value> to True:
<prop oor:name="EMailSupported" oor:type="xs:boolean">
<value>false</value>
</prop>
Start OOo nad use the wizard. If none of the above makes sense then
please watch http://documentation.openoffice.org/HOW_TO/index.html for
the new HOW-T) entitled, "How To Email Mailmerge using mailmerge.py"
which provides a step-by-step procedure.
